After Umbrex: The Triad That Set Us Free
Read in Plain TextFor too long did Umbrex hold dominion over our people, forcing us to destroy the very land we came from to serve his destructive whims. Too long did he strip us of our knowledge as we cast our writings into the fire. Too long have we suffered, knowing nothing but the pain of fire lashed upon us for any insignificant failure.
Things are much different, now. Saezil, Llathasa, and Vadmis have ushered us into a new era! No longer will we destroy all that we have created as frequently as the sun sets upon the land. We now build; we build homes, knowledge, families, our futures. We live by our own accordance and praise gods that deliver us not into degradation, but to success. We are free to live as we wish to, not as we have been commanded to.
Our freedom was bought by Umbrex himself, who punished us for following his commands by allowing the heretical Duema to murder beloved Raevoth. His action, leading to a sacrifice so great, revealed to us that he seeks only destruction. Destruction of everything, even his own people! We cannot justify our devotion to such a god, one that would willingly bring us, his favored people, to ruin for no reason. Instead, we turn to the Three.
Father Thom, who created the sun that lights the day and warms the land. He who brings forth life from naught but a small seed and allows it to grow into towering trees. He who encourages us to seek understanding and treat others with respect, when they are deserving of it. He who denounced the disregard Umbrex has for living creatures and welcomes us into his home, where we can build our lives and improve upon things to benefit future generations.
Sister Magr, who moves water with the pull of the moon and allows us to feel emotions unrestrained. She who blooms the dusk flowers and brings fish to our bays. She who encourages us to prioritize our own well-being and think with our hearts before speaking with our hands. She who denounces Umbrex’s command for us to shut off ourselves from the world around us and wishes only for us to be in tune with all that surrounds us, so that we may develop connections that benefit us.
Guardian Rhadn, who avenges cruel deeds and maintains balance between us all. He who instills thought before action and rewards our patience. He who encourages us to trade anger and resentment for pleasure and understanding. He who denounces Umbrex’s volatility and instead desires for us to be consistent, so that we may easier understand and serve one another.
The Three have given us new leadership to replace the Immortal Emperor, Raevoth. Despite our enormous love for him, and dedication to maintaining his memory as a central figure of our history, we welcome the triumvirate that now gives us direction.
Saezil Kxeoseth, high commander of the primary forces, who spent his life developing his power to serve Umbrex better. He who discovered the secret to the animated metals of the Duema and created his own that we used against them in our strife. He who defended us until he could safely remove all the Duema from existence in one fell swoop. He who introduced us to Rhadn and promised us salvation.
Llathasa the Unbroken, empress and wife of beloved Raevoth, who used her wit and guile to lead us to victory on many occasions. She who ensured we were fed, clothed, and sheltered even when Umbrex commanded us to poverty. She who used her immense magical abilities to support Saezil as he eradicated the Duema from this land. She who introduced us to Thom and promised us security.
Vadmis Stelaine, chief advisor to Raevoth, who was plagued with devastating visions from Umbrex that harmed him physically, mentally, and spiritually. He who guided our way toward peace and foretold our separation from Umbrex. He who called upon the Celestial forces that imbued Saezil with the power to obliterate the Duema. He who introduced us to Magr and promised us peace.
Peace, Security, Salvation. These things that we needed and which were withheld from us by the Destroyer. We will no longer bow to his evil and commit crimes against ourselves, our people, and others in his name. The forest that we now call home shall stand for as long as it wishes without flame bringing it to ruin. We will have plentiful foods and the ability to craft permanent structures to improve our lives. We will not be burdened with the desire to destroy everything and everyone. We may finally live for ourselves. We may finally have what we have always wanted, for ourselves, for our communities, and for the land itself.
This is told to us, and this we will keep. Forever shall we walk in the Light!
